Over the last 6 years Mailchimp has invested more than $12 million and sponsored more than 200 small, local nonprofits in Atlanta. Most of our investments have been unrestricted, meaning we don’t determine how our recipients use those funds. We trust these world changers to provide the right kind of support to the communities they know best, which is why we give them money and get out of the way. This system of sponsorship fosters the kind of risk-taking and social innovation that’s desperately needed in the nonprofit sector. We’re excited to see what happens when nonprofits have the freedom to operate on their own terms.
